WinCORY

WinCORY (Computerized Optimization of Recoverable Yield for WINDOWS) is a WINDOWS based computer aided design system to help the saw mills in wood industry to optimize the cutting yield. This system implements and improves upon a collection of optimization algorithms as described in here. The following illustrates the key steps when the system is in operation.

  1. Display and edit a board, with defects to be removed in the cutting process.

  2. Identify all the possible clear wood area that are sufficiently large.

  3. Apply optimization algorithms to cut the board to products according the dimensions specified in the cutting order.

  4. Output the cutting results as well as the precise operation sequence.

  5. Visualize or print the product frequencies in different dimension combination.

  6. Convert the cutting sequence to electrical instructions for the saw mill machines to operate.
